Member of the National Broadcasting Council, prof., announced that RTV subscription rates will remain unchanged in 2025. Tadeusz Kowalski. This is the second year in a row that the stakes have not increased. The previous time the increase occurred in 2023. Then the monthly rate increased from PLN 7.50 to PLN 8.70 for the radio receiver only and from PLN 24.50 to PLN 27.30 for the television and radio receiver. If we decide to pay the fee in advance, its amount will decrease.

The higher the discount, the longer the fee is paid for. You can pay a maximum of one year of RTV subscription in advance. Then the discount is 10%. and for the radio only we pay PLN 94, and for the TV and radio – PLN 294.90. Discounts start with the fee paid for two months in advance, which reduces the amount by 3%. For 3 months in advance, the discount is 4%, and for 6 months – 5%.

The following are completely exempt from subscription fees:

• veterans who are war or military disabled;
• people over 75 years of age;
• people included in disability group I;
• people who are over 60 years of age and are entitled to a pension whose monthly amount does not exceed 50%. average salary.

The head of the parliamentary culture committee, Bogdan Zdrojewski, admitted that the appropriate act should be ready in the second half of this year. – The Act on new methods of financing the media should be ready by the end of September at the latest. The point is that if we eliminate the subscription fee and limit advertising – because these two elements are included in both variants – we want to start 2025 from January 1 with new statutory solutions – assured the politician. Zdrojewski added that work on a specific solution in the government is still ongoing. Since then, however, the topic has quieted down, and the National Broadcasting Council announced the RTV license fees for next year.

The possible abolition of the RTV license fee means the need to find alternative ways of financing the media. Two solutions are considered. The first idea is a state subsidy from the budget calculated as a certain percentage of GDP. A similar solution operates today in many European countries. The second is an annual contribution (audiovisual fee) in the amount of approximately PLN 9 per month, which would be collected from each taxpayer automatically from the PIT or CIT.
