Eurogamer: PlayStation 5 Pro will be 45 percent more powerful than PlayStation 5

Specialists from the Digital Foundry project spoke about the characteristics of the new Sony PlayStation console. This was reported by Eurogamer.

The authors studied the technical specifications of the PlayStation 5 Pro that appeared online. The material states that the new console will have 30 working group processors (WGP), while the original PS5 had 18 processors. In this regard, the new device will receive a performance of 33.5 teraflops versus 10.23 teraflops for the device released in 2020.

Experts emphasized the significant difference in teraflops, but explained that the PS5 Pro will be 45 percent more powerful than the PS5. It also follows from the disclosed data that the standard processor frequency of the new model will be 2.18 gigahertz versus 2.23 gigahertz for the old device. However, when overclocked, the frequency can increase to 2.35 gigahertz.

The PS5 Pro will have 256 kilobytes of Level 1 cache, up from 128 kilobytes on the original console. This will improve performance when running games with ray tracing. The release of the PlayStation 5 Pro should take place at the end of 2024.

Earlier it became known that Sony began notifying game developers about a new mode that will be available on the PlayStation 5 Pro. The “ultra-acceleration” mode will allow you to display games in 4K resolution and at a frequency of 60 frames per second.
