The Information: Apple was accused of exploiting partners and stealing technology
Apple has been accused of unfairly using technologies owned by other companies. This was reported by The Information.
Media journalists have found that Apple has been using technologies from partners who develop and produce gadgets for it for years. Thus, a company can exploit equipment manufacturers with whom it has entered into a contract and transfer their developments to other partners.
As an example, experts cited GT Advanced Technologies, which in 2014 worked with Apple to create a durable display for the iPhone. The company accumulated debts of almost half a billion dollars, it declared bankruptcy. As sources noted, Apple “stole” the developments of GT Advanced Technologies and transferred them to another partner, the Chinese company Biel Crystal.
Also, for example, the Chinese company SeeYa Technologies received from Apple the developments of the Japanese Sony – the latter developed the technology for assembling Vision Pro glasses for the American IT giant. Tim Cook Corporation handed over the intellectual property after Sony refused to expand production for the Vision Pro.

At the same time, the authors of The Information noted that the right to transfer technology to third parties is enshrined in the agreement. Therefore, formally, Apple has every right to take their developments from partners and transfer them to others.
In early April, Apple asked the US Court of Appeal to lift the ban on the supply and sale of the brand’s smartwatches. Previously, corporations banned sales of a number of Apple Watch models due to the illegal use of a Masimo patent.
