Bloomberg: iOS 18 will feature an AI service from the creators of ChatGPT

OpenAI, the creator of the ChatGPT chatbot, will develop an AI service for Apple. Bloomberg reports this.

The agency’s sources have learned that the two American corporations have resumed negotiations on cooperation. According to insider Mark Gurman, Apple wants OpenAI to help add artificial intelligence (AI) tools to iOS 18. A new operating system for the iPhone will be announced in June.

Gurman emphasized that Apple is also not stopping negotiations with Google. In mid-March, a specialist said that companies discussed the future of artificial intelligence on Apple devices. Mark Gurman also does not rule out that another company may eventually add a chatbot to the iPhone.

Earlier, Apple CEO Tim Cook said that he himself often uses ChatGPT. However, the entrepreneur believes that the service has a number of problems that need to be solved. Apple, OpenAI and Google did not respond to a request for comment from Bloomberg.

At the end of March, Mark Gurman said that Apple will not add a chatbot to the iPhone after the release of iOS 18. Instead, certain AI services will appear on the brand’s smartphones.
