Apple has cut Vision Pro supplies in half due to declining interest in glasses
Reputable insider Ming-Chi Ko said that Apple has halved the supply of its Vision Pro augmented reality headset. The specialist stated this in his blog on Medium.
According to Ko, Apple previously planned to put 700-800 thousand units of Vision Pro glasses on the market in 2024. However, against the backdrop of falling interest in the device and its high cost, the corporation reduced supplies by approximately half – to 400-450 thousand units.
The specialist noted that in this way Apple admitted the failure of the headset. “This means that demand in the US market has fallen sharply, exceeding expectations, which also forces Apple to take a conservative view of demand in markets outside the US,” Ming-Chi Ko said.
According to him, the corporation will also not release the second generation of augmented reality devices in 2025, as previously planned. In addition, Apple will reconsider its priorities regarding the augmented reality glasses market.
The Apple Vision Pro mixed reality headset went on sale in February. The cost of the basic version of the device was $3,499, or about 352 thousand rubles.
At the end of April, Bloomberg noted that American consumers stopped purchasing augmented reality glasses from Apple. However, the company continues to promote its product through point-of-sale advertising and media.
