IDC: in 2024, sales of Android smartphones will grow twice as fast as iPhones
Android smartphone sales will grow faster than iPhone sales in 2024. This was reported by CNN with reference to data from the International Data Corporation (IDC).
The research firm estimates that shipments of Android devices will grow roughly twice as fast as shipments of Apple smartphones. The Chinese market was cited as one of the main reasons for this growth.
IDC emphasized that China remains an extremely important region for Tim Cook’s company – Apple is trying to increase sales through advertising and discounts. However, many local consumers have begun to pay more attention to national brands – Huawei, Xiaomi, Oppo and others. Because of this, iPhone sales in China may collapse.
Apple also stands out from among the leading smartphone manufacturers in that it has not yet actually integrated artificial intelligence (AI) services into its gadgets. “We hope to hear some messages on this at the June developer conference,” said IDC research director Nabila Popal.
At the same time, Apple, according to Popal, remains one of the most stable smartphone brands that has successfully overcome supply problems during the coronavirus pandemic.
Earlier, IDC said that Apple dropped to second place in the ranking of the largest smartphone manufacturers, Samsung took first place. In the first quarter, Samsung increased its share to 20.8 percent, Apple took a share of 17.3 percent.
