Apple allows iPhones to be repaired using old parts
Apple has allowed users and service centers to disassemble the iPhone into parts and use them to repair other gadgets. This was reported by MacRumors.
A document on the company’s website clarifies that service centers and customers can freely use used parts from old smartphones. Specialists will be able to use them in repairing damaged devices. First of all, the company allowed to service the iPhone 15, then the old parts can be used to repair other smartphones.
The new rules also apply to used Face ID and Touch ID biometric sensors. Previously, for them to work correctly on a new device, they had to be calibrated by Apple engineers.
The company also announced that it is expanding the functionality of Activation Lock. This option prevents you from fully using used parts if the iPhone from which they were removed is in Lost Mode. “We’re excited to provide our customers with even more choice while helping extend the life of our products and their parts,” Apple said in a statement.
In mid-February, it became known that Apple opposed the right to repair its gadgets using third-party equipment. The corporation’s representatives explained this as Apple’s policy.
