Apple warned users in 92 countries about a spyware attack

Apple Corporation has recorded a major attack on owners of proprietary equipment related to spyware. This was reported by TechCrunch.

The company began sending messages to users warning them that they could become a victim of a hacker attack. “This attack is likely targeting you because of who you are or what you do,” the notice reads. According to experts, unknown people are trying to remotely compromise an iPhone associated with an Apple ID.

Journalists noted that owners of Apple smartphones from 92 countries received similar notifications about the impending attack. Experts emphasized that Apple has been informing users around the world about similar attacks since 2021. This practice is discussed on the service support page.

TechCrunch authors noted that Apple’s warning comes as many countries will hold elections at various levels in 2024. It is likely that the attacks may be related to the desire of some interested parties to influence the voting results.

“We cannot provide additional information about what caused us to send this notification because it could help attackers tailor their behavior,” Apple said.

At the end of March, security specialist Brian Krebs found a new way to hack an iPhone. According to him, during the attack the attacker sends the victim a large number of messages asking him to reset the password on his gadget.
