Apple encouraged users to contact the police if they found an orphan AirTag. It is reported by the Appleinsider edition.
The company said it was concerned about reports of surveillance cases using the AirTag wireless beacon. Experts advised that if someone else’s device was found attached to personal belongings, contact the police. Apple noted that this method of protecting health and property is universal.
The message also says that a third-party user will not be able to find out who owns the beacon if the last one was planted on him. The journalists noted that usually attackers who want to track a person or valuables in his possession hide the AirTag and turn on the lost mode on it. In this case, the beacon can lead them to the victim’s place of residence.
