Korea Times: Samsung has become the leader in the global smartphone market with a 20% share
Samsung has reclaimed its status as the world’s leading smartphone manufacturer. This was reported by the Korean edition of Korea Times.
According to media reports, in February, Samsung’s share of the global market was 20 percent. Thus, the former leader Apple lost the first position, moving to second place with a share of 18 percent.
During this period, the Korean IT giant sold 19.69 million units of smartphones. Its closest competitor is 17.41 million devices. According to experts, the leadership of brands in autumn and winter is seasonal. Thus, Apple came out on top in September thanks to the launch of the iPhone 15 line. Samsung was in the lead in February after the release of the Galaxy S24 smartphones.
The authors also noted that, when looking at individual quarters of the year, Samsung was more likely to gain market leadership. This is due to the fact that the corporation more often produces different lines of smartphones than Apple.
In January, IDC analysts said Apple led the global smartphone market with a 20.1 percent share. Former leader Samsung received a share of 19.4 percent.
