IDC: the market for alternative reality headsets will grow because of Apple
Experts from International Data Corporation (IDC) predicted an explosive growth in the popularity of alternative reality headsets. Appleinsider reports this.
The latest company report states that the release of Apple Vision Pro augmented reality glasses has attracted attention to the industry. Analysts believe that by the end of the year, the market for AR and VR glasses will grow by 44.2 percent, to 9.8 million units.
By 2026, the number of devices shipped to the market should approach 20 million, and in 2028 it should exceed 35 million units. The material states that the majority of alternative reality headsets will be VR glasses – 24.7 million units, AR gadgets will account for 10.9 million units.
“Many gadget makers have already started their journey, moving from virtual reality to mixed reality,” said IDC research manager Jitesh Ubrani. According to the firm’s analysts, the turnaround in the market will come when headsets are used to create content rather than just consume it.
Earlier it became known that Sony Corporation suspended further production of the PlayStation VR 2 virtual reality helmet. The reason was given as the decline in the popularity of the wearable gaming gadget.
