Roskachestvo allowed the shutdown of Apple and Google smartphones in Russia
The head of the Center for Digital Expertise of Roskachestvo, Sergei Kuzmenko, commented on the possibility of disabling Apple and Google smartphones in Russia. His words are quoted by RIA Novosti.
Kuzmenko allowed the shutdown of Apple and Android smartphones using Google services in Russia from a technical point of view.

“This will happen using the same mechanism as stolen devices are blocked. Apple’s technology has a much more advanced mechanism than Google’s competitors, but in both cases users will encounter serious problems,” the expert warned.
However, Kuzmenko doubted that corporations would make such a decision, since it would bring them enormous reputational damage, as well as multimillion-dollar lawsuits.
Earlier, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said that Google Play and App Store services may limit access to downloading applications in the country. He called on IT specialists to start working on creating a domestic replacement for foreign marketplaces.
