Apple will stop repairing MacBook laptops with defective keyboards in November
Apple intends to stop repairing laptops with problematic keyboards under warranty. Appleinsider reports this.
Media journalists recalled that we are talking about models with a butterfly keyboard, which were produced from March 2015 to the end of 2019. The keyboards turned out to be defective, and Apple launched a free warranty repair program for them. According to the authors, the program was designed to last four years from the date of sale of the last computer, and it will soon end.
Thus, the last two 2019 MacBook Pro models were on sale until November 2020. It follows that in November 2024, Apple service centers will no longer accept laptops for free service.
The authors recalled that the company’s specialists took on repairs if some characters were not entered on the keyboard or it “stuck.” Since 2019, the company has replaced the type of keyboard mechanism from “butterfly” to the more familiar “scissors”.
On March 4, Apple announced a new generation of MacBook Air laptops. The devices received an M3 processor, 13- and 15-inch Liquid Retina screens, Wi-Fi 6E support, MagSafe magnetic charging, and two Thunderbolt ports.
