Apple is preparing a surprising premiere. This time it’s not about the iPhone

Apple is working on a device with a foldable screen, but it is not an iPhone at all – informs a well-known industry analyst. This is a 20-inch MacBook, which is expected to go on sale in 2027.

Apple remains one of the last leading smartphone makers that still hasn’t launched a device with a foldable screen. Although rumors about such an iPhone come back to us from time to time like a boomerang, there is still no specific information about it. Now, however, it turns out that the giant from Cupertino is actually working on a “foldable”, but it is not about the iPhone.

MacBook with a foldable screen in 2027. A famous analyst reveals the details

Revelations about the new device were shared by Ming-Chi Kuo, a well-known analyst specializing in Apple-related topics and one of the best-informed sources in the new technologies industry.

My latest information indicates that currently the only Apple foldable product with a clear development timeline is the 20.3-inch MacBook, which is expected to go into mass production in 2027

– Kuo said in an entry published on X.

The fact that Apple may be working on a 20-inch MacBook with a foldable screen was previously reported by the South Korean website The Elec.

relating to “foldable electronic device”. In the document, Apple specifies that it “may be equipped with a foldable form factor that allows the device to be folded and unfolded around the fold axis” and that “the display panel may be configured to flex along the fold axis when the device is folded.”

Currently, Apple’s largest laptop is the 16-inch MacBook Pro. In the past, the company also offered a 17-inch MacBook Pro, but its production ended in 2012.

We learn one more important thing from Ming-Chi Kuo’s entry. Apple – contrary to industry rumors – is not currently working on a foldable iPhone or iPad. This type of devices will not be available for sale even in the next few years.

Apple’s quiet launch. The new MacBook Air with the powerful M3 chip is official

introduced new 13- and 15-inch MacBook Air models to its offer. The devices are equipped with the latest Apple M3 chip, which breaks performance records in benchmarks. Apple boasts that MacBook Air with the M3 chip is up to 60 percent faster than the model with the M1 chip and up to 13x faster than the most powerful MacBook Air with an Intel processor.

In both the 13- and 15-inch versions of the MacBook Air, the M3 system has an 8-core CPU and a maximum of 10-core GPU. We also have up to 24 GB of RAM available. Apple declares up to 18 hours of equipment operation on a single battery charge. Another new feature is the Wi-Fi 6E network module, which replaced Wi-Fi 6. This will translate into up to twice as fast downloads compared to the previous generation.

Apart from that, it’s hard to talk about any revolutionary changes. Apple has once again chosen the proven and minimalist design that we know from the previous generation of the MacBook Air series. The smaller variant of the laptop has a 13.6-inch Liquid Retina screen (LCD IPS) with a brightness of up to 500 nits. The larger Air is equipped with an identical panel, only 15.6-inch. As you can see, the MiniLED matrix and variable refresh rate (ProMotion) are still reserved exclusively for the MacBook Pro.
