There is a fire in the German Tesla factory, there is no electricity. The police suspect intentional arson of the transformer station. The power was turned off over a large area, including parts of Berlin.

The fire was detected after 5 a.m. on Tuesday. Firefighters talk about the difficult operation and the need to stop it. The Bild newspaper claims that an explosion was heard in the area in the morning. The police confirm that the flames spread to the station and the power mast.

Protests by environmentalists and the local community have been going on for weeks around these plants. Residents of the Gruenheide commune voted against the expansion of the Tesla factory, which is related to the cutting down of the surrounding forests. Activists built a town in the treetops of nearby trees. A tent, probably belonging to protesters, was located near the source of the fire.

Problems with the German Tesla factory

The American manufacturer of electric cars in Brandenburg has aroused emotions from the very beginning. . As many as 70 percent of eligible residents of Gruenheide voted, and two-thirds of the voters were against the expansion of the Tesla factory. 170 hectares are needed for the enlarged factory and additional warehouses – most of these areas are forests. Already in the first stage of the factory expansion, hundreds of hectares of trees disappeared. “The electric, or supposedly ecological, car is destroying our nature,” the inhabitants of Brandenburg warned at the time.

Recently. German services warned that the plants significantly exceeded water pollution standards. The alarm was raised by the waterworks of the Straußberg-Erkner region. During the crisis meeting, a letter was written to the mayor in which the municipal company called for the American giant to stop production.
