Apple’s quiet launch. The new MacBook Air with the powerful M3 chip is officially available

Quietly and without prior announcements, Apple introduced new 13- and 15-inch MacBook Air models. The devices are equipped with the latest Apple M3 chip, which breaks performance records in benchmarks.

If you’re waiting for the (pre)spring Apple conference, you’ll have to take it easy. This time, the company from Cupertino gave up the already famous Special Event and decided to show off the new products via… And these new products are two models of MacBook Air, i.e. a “lighter” version of Apple’s flagship laptop.

Both the 13-inch variant (which was last refreshed in 2022) and the 15-inch variant (the last model appeared a year later, in 2023) went on sale.

The M3 chip goes to the MacBook Air series. Let the force be with you

The most important new addition to both variants is, of course, the M3 chip made in 3 nm technology, which is currently the most powerful processor in the Cupertino company’s portfolio. Apple boasts that MacBook Air with the M3 chip is up to 60 percent faster than the model with the M1 chip and up to 13x faster than the most powerful MacBook Air with an Intel processor.

The new system offers support for ray-tracing (reverse ray tracing) and dynamic caching (the system uses exactly as much memory as necessary to perform a specific task).

In both the 13- and 15-inch versions of the MacBook Air, the M3 system has an 8-core CPU and a maximum of 10-core GPU. We also have up to 24 GB of RAM available. Apple declares up to 18 hours of equipment operation on a single battery charge. Another new feature is the Wi-Fi 6E network module, which replaced Wi-Fi 6. This will translate into up to twice as fast downloads compared to the previous generation.

Liquid Retina and proven design

Besides, it is difficult to talk about any revolutionary changes. Apple has once again chosen the proven and minimalist design that we know from the previous generation of the MacBook Air series. The smaller variant of the laptop has a 13.6-inch Liquid Retina screen (LCD IPS) with a brightness of up to 500 nits. The larger Air is equipped with an identical panel, only 15.6-inch. As you can see, the MiniLED matrix and variable refresh rate (ProMotion) are still reserved exclusively for the MacBook Pro.

People who often multitask will certainly be pleased by the fact that both MacBook Air and M3 support two external displays (in the case of the previous generation, we could only connect one monitor). However, to use this feature, the laptop lid must be closed.)

MacBook Air with M3 chip. We know Polish prices. It’s not cheap

We have already learned the Polish prices of the new MacBook Air. The 13-inch model in the cheapest variant (8/256 GB) costs PLN 5,999. In turn, for a 15-inch model with the same configuration we will pay PLN 6,999.

As for the “reasonable” variant, i.e. equipped with 16 GB RAM and 512 GB SSD memory, in this case the prices are as follows:

  • 13-inch MacBook Air with M3 – PLN 8,399
  • 15-inch MacBook Air with M3 – PLN 9,399

Apple has already started pre-sale of devices. They will be delivered to the first customers on March 8.
