The Verge: Apple Vision Pro glasses may cause eye strain and dry eyes
Apple’s augmented reality headset is not as dangerous to health as many people believe. This was reported by The Verge.
According to Arvind Saini, a doctor and spokesman for the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the myth that gadgets can ruin your eyesight remains a myth: “Despite what many people believe, sitting too close to the TV will not harm your eyes.” He also stated that AR and VR headsets, like Viaion Pro, are not capable of causing serious damage to health.
However, the specialist named side effects from using such glasses. First of all, the doctor highlighted eye strain and dry eyes, which occur when a person uses a gadget for too long and rarely blinks. “While these symptoms may cause discomfort, there is no scientific evidence that any digital screens, including virtual reality devices, are harmful to eye health,” Saini said.
The specialist said that eye fatigue from using Vision Pro can also be caused by the so-called conflict of vergence and accommodation. In the real world, when a person looks at an object, the focal point and the physical distance to this object are the same, but in the virtual world they can differ. Subconjunctival hemorrhage may also occur from eye strain, but such eye injuries usually heal naturally.
At the end of February, doctor Vladislav Vorobievsky said that Apple Vision Pro can cause headaches. In addition, the device can cause restriction in the mobility of the first cervical vertebra.
