Canalys: Apple has become the leader of the European smartphone market with a share of 33 percent
The American company Apple ended 2023 in a leading position in the European smartphone market. This was reported in a report from Canalys.
According to analysts, Apple shipped 12.4 million devices to the market in the fourth quarter of 2023 and became the segment leader with a share of 33 percent. In second position was South Korean Samsung, which shipped 10.8 million devices and remained with a share of 28 percent. Xiaomi closes the top 3 with 6 million gadgets and a share of 16 percent.
The Canalys material says that the US IT giant has regained its leadership, having won it from Samsung – the South Korean company had the largest share in Europe throughout 2023. However, the authors noted that Samsung has a good chance of once again becoming the main supplier of smartphones to the European market.
The firm’s analysts also emphasized that in the fourth quarter of the year, Europeans were more likely to buy expensive smartphones than usual. Devices over $800 accounted for 40 percent of shipments. Most often, consumers purchased smartphones from the iPhone 15, Galaxy S and Google Pixel series.
At the beginning of February, Canalys analysts listed the most purchased smartphones in 2023. The leader of the list was the iPhone 14 Pro Max; the top 3 also included the iPhone 15 Pro Max and iPhone 14.
