Sparrows News: Meizu has left the smartphone market, it will produce AI devices
The Chinese company Meizu announced that it will stop producing smartphones. This was reported by Sparrows News.
Media journalists referred to the corporation’s announcement on Weibo. The company announced a radical change of course – instead of releasing smartphones, Meizu will develop and produce devices with support for artificial intelligence (AI).
The company noted that they will leave their usual market and will cooperate with organizations related to the development of AI – for example, OpenAI. In the next three years, Meizu has planned to release six devices with support for artificial intelligence. The first device will appear in 2024.
The report also states that the production of Meizu 21 Pro, Meizu 22 and Meizu 23 smartphones will be curtailed. Owners of already sold phones will be provided with the necessary technical support. The company’s services – for example, the Flyme OS smartphone shell – will work throughout the transition period.
In December 2022, Meizu announced its return to the smartphone market. The company took a long break after the release of the Meizu 18 model in March 2021.
