MacRumors: Apple stopped development of foldable iPhone due to poor quality
Apple has suspended the development and production of the first foldable iPhone. This was reported by MacRumors.
Media journalists referred to a Weibo publication by a well-known Chinese insider under the nickname Fixed Focus Digital. According to him, the corporation has temporarily stopped working on creating a smartphone with a flexible display. The specialist said that the IT giant’s engineers carefully tested conceptual samples of the device for a long time.
During the inspection, it turned out that none of the prototypes met Apple’s quality standards. In particular, Samsung’s latest foldable panels broke after a few days of active testing. The corporation decided that they would expect a more durable flexible display to appear.
According to MacRumors journalists, Apple specialists could have been working on the first folding smartphone since 2016. In parallel with the development of the device, the corporation tested folding devices from competitive brands.
In early February, sources told The Information that Apple continues to actively study folding smartphones. It is clarified that engineers are developing a device that would be twice as thin as current iPhone models.
