She caught victims under ATMs. She stole tens of thousands of zlotys. Finally, she let herself be caught

She caught her victims and – using the BLIK method – extracted savings from them. She was caught only after she had saved up a large amount of money, but she hid very well for some time. In just three months, she moved and changed jobs many times.

“Hey, could you borrow five tenners” or “my card was stolen, can you borrow PLN 100 via BLIK?” – this is how the conversation of a fraudster who tries to extort money using the BLIK method usually begins. Criminals impersonate victims’ friends and extort tens of thousands of zlotys. They “work” at ATMs, where they use instant messengers or text messages to persuade potential victims to provide BLIK codes, and then use them to withdraw large amounts (usually other than those they promised to borrow).

She defrauded over 100 people and extorted almost PLN 70,000. zlotys. Everything with BLIK codes

One of such fraudsters has now been caught by police officers from Bielsko-Biała. The criminal career of the 25-year-old from Sosnowiec lasted only three months, but during that time the criminal managed to extort almost PLN 70,000. zlotys. In just a quarter, she defrauded over 100 people from all over Poland using the BLIK method only.

As the police describe, the woman was extremely well organized. During the above-mentioned quarter, the 25-year-old often changed jobs, moved, and modified her appearance. She always chose ATMs that were not equipped with monitoring, and when using them, she covered her face with a mask just in case. She also never went to the same machine twice. She always cheated on her next victims in new places.

Such precautions taken by the fraudster made the policemen feel a bit confused, but thanks to a painstaking review of city surveillance footage, they finally managed to track down the 25-year-old. They managed to stop her in January this year. in Bielsko-Biała. The woman was charged with a total of 124 charges and faces up to eight years in prison.

The police remind you to use BLIK codes with great caution. Transactions made using them cannot be undone, so the code may be transferred – if necessary – only after confirming (e.g. by phone) that the person asking for help is who he or she claims to be. It is also worth carefully checking the type and amount of the BLIK operation when approving it.
