JerryRigEverything: Apple Vision Pro glasses turned out to be made of plastic
Blogger Zach Nelson, known under the nickname JerryRigEverything, tested the strength of the Apple Vision Pro AR headset. The video is available on the author’s YouTube channel.
First of all, the enthusiast checked the strength of the external translucent panel, which also contains cameras and sensors. Nelson was surprised to find out that the device consists of laminated glass, on top of which a plastic layer is applied. The author noted that the plastic of the augmented reality glasses is very fragile and collects scratches well.
JerryRigEverything tested the material’s strength on the Moss scale. As a result, he gave the Vision Pro front glass a second level of strength. The blogger said that this is very little – for example, the front panel of modern smartphones has a strength of the sixth or seventh level.
The video states that objects such as keys, coins and even dust can leave permanent scratches on the glass. This is also why the headset includes a napkin. In contrast, the Vision Pro’s body proved to be very rigid and withstood the bending test.
In early February, enthusiasts created the first exploit for the Apple Vision Pro headset. With the help of hacking Vision Pro, in the near future, specialists will be able to create a jailbreak for the device – just like for the iPhone.
