Weather information in Google Maps was first made available in October 2023, but only in the test version of Android 14 QPR Beta 2. After several months of waiting, this function will finally reach all users – also from Poland.
The window presenting the current temperature and air quality is located in the upper left corner of the application, below the search bar. When we tap this field, a larger window will appear on the screen with detailed information on air quality and the weather forecast for the next 12 hours. Importantly, weather functions update in real time as we move around the map.

The new Google Maps also includes an additional layer presenting the air quality in a selected area. To activate it, simply touch the air quality field (EAQI).

, new weather features are being made available gradually, and will eventually appear on all smartphones with Android version 11.13.x or newer. If you still don’t have access to them, check if you’re using the latest version of Google’s operating system.

We then see the shapes of the surrounding buildings, which, for example, in the case of skyscrapers in the center of Warsaw, looks interesting. Importantly, however, we will see the three-dimensional image only after zooming in significantly on the map, because from a greater distance the map is displayed in a standard way.
The long-awaited Bluetooth beacon support function has appeared, which enables better navigation, among others, in tunnels. This will prevent the driver from getting lost when the GPS signal is not available.
