According to the “Teenagers 3.0” report published by NASK, the youngest spend an average of 5 hours and 36 minutes on the Internet a day. – I see that if we do nothing about access to devices, applications, the Internet, and contact options, children will use the equipment more and more and become addicted – said the head of the Ministry of Digital Affairs, Krzysztof Gawkowski.
The Ministry of Digital Affairs encourages its application. “The Internet is full of harmful content”
Now the Ministry of Digital Affairs and the NASK institute have started to encourage people to use the mOchrona application (released in December 2021), which some parents have probably never heard of (the app was downloaded from the Google Play store only a little over 5,000 times). This is supposed to be an easy way to control what children watch online, but also for how long they watch it. The Ministry of Digitization explains that – according to the NASK study – the average age at which Polish children get their first phone with Internet access is 8 years and 5 months, which means that even at such a young age they can come across a lot of undesirable content on the Internet. .
Nowadays, smartphones have become almost the whole world for young people. The features they offer allow them to develop their interests. Unfortunately, the Internet is also full of harmful content, and uncontrolled access to it makes children exposed to a number of threats. The above-mentioned study also shows that parents are often not aware of the dangers their children may encounter online, and yet the Internet, in addition to useful knowledge and desirable entertainment, is full of content that is inappropriate for their age.

The solution is to be the mentioned mOchrona app. The first step after installing the program is to create an account and choose whether it is a parent or child account. After selecting the first option, the parent (via their smartphone) can create an account for the child – enter their name, age and select an avatar. In this way, a parent can create even several accounts – one for each child. Then you also need to install the same application on your child’s phone, log in to the parent’s account, select the child’s name, and finally pair both smartphones with each other using a QR code.
In the next step (still on the child’s phone), the parent must agree to the application’s access to control the phone and configure the app appropriately. Now – remotely – the parent can see which applications each child has recently used, and block access to both applications from specific categories – e.g. “game and entertainment” or “business and finance” – as well as a range of websites (e.g. .those related to gambling). In this way, you can block your child from using games or streaming platforms, e.g. while studying. The application also allows you to track the time your child has been using the phone in recent days on a graph.
