Is this the end of Google Assistant? The company is preparing something new. We’ve already heard the name

Everything indicates that Google will abandon the Assistant, which has been developed for years. Of course, the Internet giant already has an alternative in the form of the new AI Bard chatbot. Fortunately, we will not have to change all our habits.

Google Assistant was released back in 2016 and most users have already gotten used to it. Especially since it is a very functional and easy-to-use tool. In 2023, however, the American company presented its first chatbot, which takes advantage of the possibilities of artificial intelligence. Now it turns out that the much-loved Assistant may disappear in favor of a newer solution.

Is this the end of Google Assistant? The well-known and liked name disappears in favor of Bard

Last October, Google announced that it intended to combine Bard’s generative AI capabilities with the “personalized assistance” of the Assistant. The company then named its voice assistant “Assistant with Bard”. Users have found the name in recent days, among others: in the Android tutorial on Pixel smartphones. However, it may turn out that this term will never reach our devices.

A little earlier, in mid-January, an early version of the Google application was discovered. It turns out that in the app configurator, the giant replaced the term “Assistant with Bard” with the shorter name Bard, which until now referred not to the voice assistant, but to the company’s AI chatbot. Additionally, the name “Assistant” was also removed from all other places in the application and replaced with the new Bard brand. Moreover, the company also called its chatbot a “digital assistant” in the application. Previously, this term was only used for Google Assistant.

This obviously raises suspicions that Google intends to develop connected applications under the Bard name. The old Assistant may soon be retired, and Bard will appear on our smartphones with much more advanced capabilities than before. Unfortunately, it is not clear when the new software in the form of extended Bard would appear on Pixel smartphones and then on other Android devices.

Fortunately, he noticed, we won’t have to change our habits too much. Bard will most likely be invoked with the well-known slogan “Hey Google” (or “OK Google”). At least that’s what the leaks that find their way online are.
