Analyst Shutov called smartphone overheating and battery drain signs of wiretapping
Vasily Shutov, a teacher at the KB-1 “Information Security” department of RTU MIREA, told how to check whether a smartphone is being tapped. He said this in a conversation with the Prime agency.
The analyst named signs of wiretapping on a smartphone and attributed them to overheating of the device, as well as battery drain. After assessing the physical condition of the gadget, he called for checking it using anti-virus programs or special USSD commands.
“There are different commands for different types of devices – they are easy to find on the Internet,” the expert added.
If the scan reveals suspicious applications, they should be removed. A more effective measure is to reset the gadget to factory settings, as well as install new programs. These methods will help identify unprofessional espionage, but a citizen is unlikely to notice the operational investigative work.
Earlier, cyber expert Valery Stepanov spoke about the tricks of bank fraudsters. According to him, they are able to determine the card balance via SMS or call.
