It was one of the proposals mentioned during the election campaign that excites more than one Argentinian; dollarization in Argentina is closer, according to what President Javier Milei revealed in an interview.

Milei spoke to journalist Patricia Janiot before the general strike that took place in the middle of this week and reiterated that he was not willing to negotiate on points of the so-called Omnibus Law.

Janiot asked him if there was dollarization and the closure of the Central Bank, to which the president explained that he had expanded the monetary base and that they had purchased $5,000 million.

Javier Milei called Petro a “murderous communist” and Colombia immediately called its ambassador to Argentina for consultations

“The monetary base in Argentina is $7.5 billion, which means we are almost able to dollarize,” he added.

The South American country recorded an inflation of its currency, which has led to an economic crisis.

Milei confirmed on Friday that he will visit Israel “in the coming weeks” and condemned the “heinous and inexcusable” violence of the Islamist movement Hamas during an intervention in front of the Jewish community.

“In the coming weeks I will travel to the Holy Land, which will mark a new chapter in the brotherhood of our two nations,” Milei said at an event at the Holocaust Museum in Buenos Aires.

This trip could coincide with the visit to Rome of the ultra-liberal president, who will participate in the February 11 canonization Mass of Blessed Maria Antonia of San José, Mama Antula, in St. Peter’s Basilica, as reported by Chancellor Diana Mondino.

The newspaper Clarion reported, citing anonymous sources, that Pope Francis will receive Milei on February 12. (JO)
