In a preliminary report, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) indicated that the inspection conducted on the airline-owned cargo plane Atlas Skyrevealed the presence of a hole at the top of engine number two.

Images shared by the Only in Dade account on social networks show a plane crossing the sky with fire in one of the engines, although it has not been confirmed that the images correspond with complete certainty to the plane that made the emergency landing.

This is evident from the audio of emergency calls to air traffic control that the station has obtained Telemundo 51you hear the pilot say: “Mayday, mayday (emergency)… we have a fire in an engine (..) I request access to the airport”.

No injuries were reported in the incident.

“We can confirm that flight 5Y095, a cargo aircraft, landed safely after experiencing an engine failure shortly after departing from the airport. Miami International Airport (MIA),” said an Atlas Air spokesperson.

According to a statement from the above-mentioned airline, the crew followed all standard procedures and returned safely to the airport.

He added that they would conduct a “thorough inspection” to determine the cause of the incident. (JO)
