Nokiamob: HMD Global will stop producing smartphones and phones under the Nokia brand
The Chinese company HMD Global, which owns the rights to the Nokia brand, will stop producing devices under this brand. Nokiamob reports this.
The company noted that from February 1, a showcase with all Nokia phones and tablets will be available on the HMD website. Apparently, nokia.com will no longer be dedicated to smartphones. Also, the Chinese corporation will stop producing devices under the Nokia brand – such devices will disappear from the market.
According to journalists, in this way HMD Global has rethought the future of its products. The company has owned the Nokia brand since 2016, and the trademark rights agreement will expire in 2025.
In addition to changes on its website, HMD Global carried out a redesign on social networks. Thus, the company’s username in X – nokiamobile – changed to HMDglobal.
In September, it became known that HMD Global intends to begin producing smartphones under its own brand. The company said that thanks to Nokia, the company has strengthened and is now ready to start producing devices under a new brand.
