SamMobile: Samsung will update Android on its smartphones for seven years
New Samsung smartphones will receive expanded support with updates. This was reported by SamMobile.
According to journalists, the corporation intends to support the flagship smartphones of the Galaxy S24 series for seven years from the date of release. Apparently, we are talking not only about security patches, but also about Android updates. This is a record figure for the Korean company – currently the flagships and some affordable devices of the brand are supported by updates for four years.
Thus, Samsung will repeat the achievement of Google, which in October 2023 announced that Pixel series smartphones will be supported by Android updates and security patches for seven years from the date of release.
According to media journalists, it is unknown whether extended support will extend to other smartphones of the Korean corporation. Experts believe that the company may not take into account old devices in order to save its own resources.
The announcement of the flagship smartphones of the Samsung Galaxy S24 line is scheduled for January 17. Earlier, insiders said that the most affordable gadget in the series will cost $799, the top-end Galaxy S24 Ultra will cost $1,199.
