Russia launched its own Wikipedia. On Putin’s orders. There is no mention of war in Ruwiki

Ruwiki, the Russian version of Wikipedia, has officially debuted on the Internet. The online encyclopedia, as expected, does not contain a single word about the war in Ukraine. Instead we read about a “military operation.”

The Ruwiki website has been operating since June 2023, but only in test mode. The official launch of the full version of the Russian online encyclopedia took place on January 15, explains the Russian news agency. The decision to create a new platform was issued in May 2022 by the president himself.

Russia launched Ruwiki. Wikipedia’s Russian competitor

The Ruwiki website explains that there are almost 2 million articles in Russian on the site. The encyclopedia has been described as a “large-scale free knowledge project.” Ruwiki, as added, brings together experts and ordinary users. “Anyone can become an author of Ruwiki, but only experts guarantee the verification of materials,” it was noted.

The Russian website told the “” newspaper that since the launch of the test version, the most frequently read articles were, among others: list of deaths in 2023, escalation of the Arab-Israeli conflict, the highest-grossing films in and “Russian military operation in Ukraine”.
