Just three weeks into the year 2024, the United States will celebrate its second national holiday.

Throughout the year, the North American country has established 11 days as federal holidays when various facilities pause care, but not services.

The third Monday in January was set aside as the second holiday commemorating the birth of Martin Luther King, Jr.

Martin Luther King Jr. was born on January 15, 1929 in Atlanta, Georgia, and was an activist for civil rights and his fight against racial inequality. In 1963, he gave his famous speech and the one considered most remembered, known as I have a dream (I have a dream) in Washington.

Since 1983 it has been decided that it is a federal holiday.

On this day, it is common for people to go to communities to take part in volunteer activities and tributes and marches take place in different parts of the country.

Banking entities and postal services will be suspended this Monday, but service in supermarket chains will be as usual.
