The Andean Council of Foreign Ministers met in an extraordinary manner “to analyze the violent events in the Republic of Ecuador,” CAN said in a statement.

The meeting condemned the violent events that recently occurred, “carried out by transnational organized criminal groups that, by carrying out acts of terror, have attempted to destabilize and have a major impact on the Ecuadorian political system and constitutional regime. the same institutions that threaten the democratic institutions of the Andean sub-region”.

The organization expressed its rejection of these acts of violence and invoked the basic principles and ideals of the Andean integration process, such as equality, justice, peace, solidarity and democracy.

Furthermore, their support and solidarity were reaffirmed for the Ecuadorian people and the government of Daniel Noboa “to confront this criminal threat, which endangers the democratic system of that country, in full respect of the Constitution. to international human rights law“, the Regulations of the Andean Community and the Internal Legal System of the Republic of Ecuador.”
