He had one way to steal from Lidl. Police looking for “business shark”

Police officers from Tarnów are looking for a man who committed a series of thefts from a Lidl store last year during the holiday season. It must be admitted that the fraud scheme he invented turned out to be exceptionally creative, but it did not protect him from detection. Now the police are looking for him.

We often write about online fraud and daring shoplifting. However, every once in a while there will be someone who can still surprise us with his “ingenuity”. One resident of Tarnów turned out to be such a person.

The Tarnów-Zachód Police Station is currently investigating fraud against the Lidl store in Tarnów. The wanted person is a man recorded by a CCTV camera. According to the police, he is responsible for a series of thefts between August 18 and 29, 2023.

A business shark in Lidl in Tarnów. He returned goods that he did not buy

The fraud scheme was as follows: The man took the goods from the shelf and then honestly paid for them at the cash register. A day later, he came to the same store and took exactly the same product from the shelf, but this time he went to the cash register and demanded a refund because of unfulfilled expectations. At the checkout he showed the original receipt for the first purchase. He repeated exactly the same pattern for the next few days.

Acting in this way will lead to financial losses for Lidl Polska SA

– emphasize the policemen from Tarnów.

Here, of course, one should ask how the store staff did not realize that the same person returned the same goods several times. However, perhaps the turnover of employees at the registers was high enough that he got away with it. Almost.

Although the man was not caught red-handed, his actions were recorded by store cameras. The Tarnów prosecutor’s office has consented to the publication of the image, which we hereby do.

If you recognize this man or have any information that may help determine his identity or whereabouts, please contact the Tarnów-Zachód Police Station by phone at 47 831 17 31 (between 7.30 a.m. and 3.30 p.m.) or by phone 24 hours a day at 47 831 17 22 or 112
