Boeing 737 MAX 9 has been grounded. Inspections are underway after a window exploded during the flight

Turkish Airlines and United Airlines, among others, are suspending flights with Boeing 737 MAX 9 planes. The machines will await inspection. The decision was issued after the outer part of one of these machines fell off during an Alaska Airlines flight.

This is the result of the events that took place on Friday. An Alaska Airlines Boeing 737 Max 9 had to make an emergency landing in the US state of Oregon after parts of its fuselage fell off at an altitude of over 4,800 meters. Photographs published by news outlets show the night sky visible through a hole in the hull. The plane with 177 passengers and crew landed safely in Portland. The causes of the failure are unknown.

The FAA is ordering inspections of more than 170 machines

Earlier, the US Federal Aviation Administration ordered the grounding of some Boeing 737 Max 9 jets. The inspections are to cover 171 Boeing 737 Max 9 aircraft operated by American airlines or located in the US. The required inspections will take approximately four to eight hours for each aircraft.

However, Alaska Airlines decided to temporarily withdraw all 65 of its machines of this type. United Airlines did the same, with its fleet of 79 jets of this type

Boeing 737s are also in the fleet of LOT Polish Airlines. However, these are machines of a different version – Max 8.
