“We regret to inform you that there was a breach of the protection of your personal data at the Central Sports Center of the Olympic Preparation Center in Zakopane. The breach consisted in unauthorized access to the COS – OPO network in Zakopane, which resulted in the encryption of data on our servers and unauthorized deletion part of the data. In addition, we identified an unauthorized data transfer, which could have resulted in the leakage of your personal data,” we read in a statement from the Zakopane sports center. COS-OPO in Zakopane informs that the event was the result of an attack.
Hacker attack on the Zakopane sports center
The cyberattack on COS-OPO may have compromised the personal data of customers and guests of the accommodation facility. The center states that personal data may have been leaked, including names, surnames, numbers, addresses and contact information, as well as data of suppliers and contractors running sole proprietorships, i.e. NIP and REGON numbers and account numbers.
COS-OPO in Zakopane advises you to reserve your PESEL number, open a BIK account and do not leave an ID document even as a pledge for renting recreational equipment.
The center also assured that the following actions were taken as a result of the attack:
- a vulnerability that was used for a hacker attack was identified and blocked,
- the breach has been reported to the supervisory authority, which is the President of the Personal Data Protection Office,
- the event was reported to CERT Polska,
- a meeting was held with employees of COS – OPO in Zakopane,
- Work is underway to restore full availability of services.
