The scandal follows like a shadow the “youtuber mom” since September 2023, when it was learned that one of his six children escaped through a window to ask a neighbor for help. The minor, they later said, was “malnourished.”

But how was that possible, when the YouTuber mom was famous for giving ‘advice’ to parents.

The woman, Ruby Franke, was arrested more than three months ago in Livins, Utah, United States.

An investigation was launched following allegations of child abuse. This week it was learned that to cause even more surprise among his followers, Franke “pleaded guilty to four of the six counts of serious crimes of child abuse charged against him”, Antena 3 broadcast on December 21, 2023.

According to RT, Ruby Franke “acknowledged that she had tortured her children, forced them to perform heavy physical tasks, denied them food and water, injured them and made them believe they were possessed.”

Mother tied the hands and feet of her sick 13-year-old son and left him in a “wooden cage”: apparently she had been doing this since he was six years old and the police rescued him

malnourished children

At the beginning of September last year, Univisión reported that four of the six children of the ‘youtuber mother’ were victims of abuse.

One of them, “malnourished”, escaped through a window of the house and ran to a neighbor’s house to ask for help,” Univisión reported.

That man contacted police when he noticed the child had “duct tape on his ankles and hands.”

When this controversy broke out, Ruby Franke’s daughter Shari said her family was happy because justice was beginning to be done.

We have been trying to inform the police and Social Services of this for years and they have finally decided to intervene.

“We did what we could legally,” declared an aunt of the children and sister of the person involved in these unsuspected crimes by a large part of the audience of her space on the YouTube channel “8 Passengers.”

At the time, authorities also said the child was being treated at a hospital for “deep lacerations.”

However, Antena 3 noted last week that “police found two minors with signs of malnutrition.”

Plead guilty

After admitting four charges, the influencer said: “With my deepest regret and pain for my family and my children, guilty.”

Franke, as published by RT, spoke of “kicking his son with boots, immersing his head in the water and covering his mouth and nose with his hands.”

In addition, “he admitted to abusing his 9-year-old daughter, forcing her to work outside, run barefoot in the mud and live without food or water.

“They also repeatedly told her that she was evil and possessed, that punishments were necessary to be obedient,” the plea deal said, the aforementioned media reported.

All members of the family were members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, it was announced in early September, El Español published.

Along with the “youtuber mom,” Jodi Hildebrandt, an ally in the business community, was taken into police custody.

Now “a lawyer is blaming Franke Jodi Hildebrandt, his former business partner, claimed he had “led the woman astray,” Antena 3 reported, citing the BBC.

In a statement shared with US media, the lawyer noted that “Hildebrandt systematically isolated Ruby Franke from her extended family, her older children and her husband, Kevin Franke.”

“This prolonged isolation subjected Ms. Franke to a distorted sense of morality,” he claimed.

Franke’s actions that came to light at the beginning of this scandal – El Español recalled – were the fact that his eldest son, Chad, “once told the channel that he had slept in a pub for seven months as punishment.” And that the influencer apparently refused to take her daughter food to school,” forgetting to put it in her backpack.

The reading of the judgment is set for February 20, 2024. (JO)
