Google is preparing the arrival of the option that allows you to know the health status of the battery on Android phoneswhich will allow to estimate the useful life, which will be accompanied by information to help reduce degradation.

The information that Android currently provides about the battery is limited to the energy consumed and the estimated operating time remaining and the use made in the last 24 hourswith a list of the applications that consume the most and the percentage, details Europe Press.

Android also offers options to extend autonomy, such as economy mode, limitation of ‘apps’ and the possibility of adapting their duration to the use made of the mobile.

However, today does not provide information about the health of the battery as such, that is, about the degradation that affects this part. Something Google is already working on, as reported in Android Authority.

Specifically, this specialized portal quotes the new information page implemented with the December update of the Pixel phones, which shows the date of production and the number of charging cycles.

It also informs about the date of first use, charging policy, charging status and health status. In particular, the latter estimates the current full charge capacity of the battery, given the degradation with which this component charges.

In beta 2 of Android 14 QPR2, which Google distributed for Pixel devices on December 11 to fix some bugs and improve performancea new battery status page has been included, which would show the status of this element, although it is not currently activated.

As described in Android Authority, this page shows the estimated charge percentage the battery can currently support compared to when it was new, both before and after a recalibration, as identified in the APK code.

This data is accompanied by tips to extend battery lifeand information about the deterioration this can cause and how it affects the duration of the device’s autonomy.
