MacRumors: All iPhone 16 series models will receive a single A18 processor
In the code of the new version of iOS 17, a reference to future Apple smartphones was found. This was reported by MacRumors.
Media journalists studied the OS and found identifiers of four new models in it. Apparently, they correspond to the devices planned for fall 2024: D47 – iPhone 16, D48 – iPhone 16 Plus, D93 – iPhone 16 Pro, D94 – iPhone 16 Pro Max. According to the authors of the publication, Apple has previously stored information about smartphones in iOS long before their release.
The material says that in 2024 the American IT giant will release four models – the same as in 2023, 2022, 2021 and 2020. From the disclosed data, some characteristics became known: for example, all models in the series will receive a single processor.
In 2023 and 2022, Apple equipped basic and advanced smartphone models with different chips. Thus, more expensive devices received advanced components. The chip appears under the code name Tahiti. However, journalists suggested that the starting and top-end smartphones will still be different – for example, the iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max models will receive an improved version of the processor.
Earlier, insider Mark Gurman said that a new button will appear in the iPhone 16 series smartphones. It will be designed for quickly taking photos or videos.
