The payment process with Bizum is very similar to a payment operation with a bank card. Euskadi thus becomes a “pioneer” in allowing this payment system.
Citizens of the Basque Autonomous Community can now pay for Bizum and by the application MiPago Wallet the fees, fines, certificates, registrations or other types of receipts issued by the regional Executive, the councils and town halls attached to the payment gateway of the “Mi Pago” administrations.
The payment process with Bizum is very similar to a payment operation with a bank card. First, the receipt is identified on the payment gateway website, then the financial entity is selected, the telephone number of the person who is going to make the charge is indicated and a password is entered.
Euskadi thus becomes “pioneer” in allowing this payment system, which has been enabled in collaboration with Kutxabank and which “manages to bring the Administration closer to the public by incorporating new technologies into daily procedures,” the Department of Public Governance and Self-Government reported in a note.
For its part, “MiPago Wallet” is a digital wallet on a mobile phone that allows you to pay “safely” by reading the barcode or QR code on the receipt.
The user only has to register and link a bank card (this step is only done the first time), which generates a “token or alias” which is encrypted in the application.
It is a system “simple and fast” because “all you have to do is press a button on your mobile, which makes it an ideal means of payment for regular subscriptions both on the web and on your mobile phone”.
For payments less than 30 euros the process is limited to “one click” and it is not necessary to enter card numbers with strong authentication mechanisms, which are necessary when that amount is exceeded.
When paying, the “token or pseudonym” is presented, but the card number does not appear, nor other data such as expiration or CVV, which “are always protected”.
There are currently 190 public entities attached and 10 banking entities attached to this payment gateway.
