Those responsible for the incident, which quickly became known in other countries, had gone mad. They recorded taking the figure out of the manger and then they were seen with their faces covered standing next to each other of the Baby Jesus. One, who smoked, had his hands gloved. They placed bills on the figure and one of them pointed out that the Sant Vicent del Raspeig police “are not taking good care of the baby Jesus.”
They warned that if they did not receive the money, they would harm baby Jesus. “He’s sleeping with us tonight,” said the one who had “the lead voice” in the video; while the other struck the head of the statue with his right hand.

On Monday morning, December 18, Cadena SER published that the figure of the Child Jesus appeared in a container on Sunday evening.
Local police also arrested two “residents of the municipality, who have acknowledged the facts.”
The arrested are 19 and 21 years old.
For the mayor of San Vicent del Raspeig, Pachi Pascual, what happened is “an unpleasant event.”
He confirmed, the aforementioned media noted, that on Sunday around 8 p.m., “neighbors found the baby Jesus next to a container located near the place where it was initially installed.”
