HotHardware: PlayStation 5 Pro will receive AMD XDNA 2 neural processor

Journalists from the publication HotHardware collected information about the next Sony console. This was reported on the media website.

According to insiders, an improved version of the PlayStation 5 will be based on a processor with an AMD video accelerator based on the Zen2 architecture, codenamed Viola. The processor frequency will be 4.4 gigahertz versus 3.5 gigahertz for the current PS5.

Also, from the disclosed specifications, it follows that the PlayStation 5 Pro will be released with an AMD XDNA2 neural processor. The chip will be responsible for scaling content: in particular, it will provide image transmission in 4K resolution at 30 frames per second.

Most likely, the PS5 Pro will receive 16 gigabytes of GDDR6 RAM. Console performance will increase from 10.28 to 28.67 teraflops.

According to HotHardware, the new console should be presented in September 2024. Thus, the device will go on sale in November-December.

Earlier, TechInsights analysts said that the game console market grew in the third quarter of 2023, showing record levels. Sony remained the market leader, whose flagship console, PlayStation 5, occupied a dominant position.
