Sony top manager Nishino said that playing on PlayStation is more profitable than on PC
Vice President of Sony Interactive Entertainment Hideaki Nishino listed the advantages of gaming on consoles. The interview is available on the Nikkei Asia website.
According to Nishino, first of all, when purchasing a PlayStation, the user receives a device for which there is no need to purchase anything additional. “If you want to play video games with the same GPU performance and so on as on the PS5, you will have to spend money and time on building your own PC,” the Sony executive also noted.
Also, according to him, playing on consoles is more profitable than on a computer. Hideaki Nishino called another advantage of console gaming the long life cycle of the device – usually the console remains relevant for seven to eight years.
In addition, Nishino noted that the development of exclusive games for PS takes from three to five years, and therefore game designers are able to reveal all the capabilities of the console. He also said that Sony knows how to adapt games to TV series and movies: for example, the titles The Last of Us and Gran Turismo were filmed.
Earlier, TechInsights experts said that the market for game consoles grew in the third quarter of 2023, showing record levels. Growth in console shipments was estimated at 11 percent year on year.
