Google has announced the availability of a Google Drive file recovery toola service for users who have experienced an outage where some of their content was automatically deleted from their storage.

The company then opened an investigation to determine the cause of the problem, which it managed to solve with the launch of a tool capable of recovering these files and available for the desktop version.

To use it, you’ll need to download the latest version of Drive for desktop (85.0.13.0 or later), available for Windows and MacOS. Once installed, you will need to click on the Drive button and hold down the ‘Shift’ key when you click on ‘Settings’.

Once you open this other tab, you’ll need to choose “Restore Backups.” The system then sends several notifications to indicate that the file recovery has started or completed.
