The free version of Gmail has limited storage spaceWhile this is no small matter, some users choose to pay for a space expansion. However, with so many documents, videos and photos, it would be ideal to free up the space before it fills up.

How to free up space in Gmail

The cheapest way to improve your Gmail storage space is to clean out old files and data that you don’t need. It could come from any Google service, not just Gmail.

Google starts removing inactive Gmail accounts: this way you can avoid losing your account

Method 1: If you want to manually clean out Gmail emails, you can simply navigate to your Gmail account, log in if necessary, and manually send emails to trash. They are deleted after 30 days, but you can also manually delete them permanently.

However, this is a slow way to do it. Google offers some more intuitive ways to free up space.

Method 2: Navigate to your Google Storage and select Free up account storage. You can also navigate directly to the Storage Management page.

Method 3: Google will suggest some items for you to clear out. If you think they should be removed, select Review. You can also select the arrow next to the service you want to clean.

Method 4: In the detailed view, select all emails, files and/or folders that you want to delete and then select Delete. (JO)
