Mysterious train breakdowns. Newag responds to the allegations. “Conspiration theory”

“The company servicing rolling stock for the Lower Silesian Railways was unable to fulfill the order to service the trains and, in order to avoid contractual penalties, created a conspiracy theory for the needs of the media,” Newag writes in a statement, firmly denying accusations of intentionally causing faults in their compositions. A producer from Nowy Sącz warns about an “illegal black PR campaign”.

Last year, there were a series of failures, including: with the participation of Impuls, produced by Newag. These vehicles are used, among others, by Koleje Dolnośląskie, PolRegio and the Warsaw Fast City Railway. The Dragon Sector group, which Onet referred to, accused the Newag manufacturer of intentionally causing faults in its trains in order to take over orders for their servicing. However, the company from Nowy Sącz strongly denies this.

Newag responds to the allegations. “Conspiracy theory for the media”

“Our software is clean. We have not introduced, we do not introduce and we will not introduce into the software of our trains any solutions that lead to intentional failures. This is slander from our competition, which is conducting an illegal black PR campaign against us,” we read in the statement. Newag calls these reports “slander” and emphasizes: “The company servicing rolling stock for the Lower Silesian Railways was unable to fulfill the order to service our trains and, in order to avoid contractual penalties, created a conspiracy theory for the needs of the company.” According to Newag, she was the one who hired the hackers who created the report.

In its statement, Newag also firmly distances itself from the content of the report. – We do not know this document, we do not know how it was created, what is the adopted methodology, on the basis of which its theses, which are unfounded in relation to Newag, were formulated. Apart from false accusations, no evidence was presented that our company intentionally installed the defective ones – Zbigniew Konieczek, president of Newag, is outraged.

“Janusz Cieszyński’s surprising speech”

The company reported this interference to the relevant services. The statement mentions, among others: Office of Rail Transport, which called for a decision to withdraw from traffic sets subjected to the activities of unknown hackers. She also announced that she would take legal action if the slander continued. Lawsuits can be expected by hackers and – as indicated – “their clients, i.e. SPS Mieczkowski”.

The statement recalled that already in 2022, interference in vehicle control systems by third parties was detected, which was announced in a public press statement and the services were notified. – It is therefore surprising that the former Minister of Digital Affairs spoke about ongoing investigations, contributing to the dissemination of false and highly harmful information about Newag, and not adding that they were initiated on the basis of our notifications – explains Zbigniew Konieczek, president of Newag in .

Newag responds to Onet’s text

“The vehicles described by the journalists of the onet.pl portal, the hacking of which was ordered by a Competitive Entity, were subject to detailed inspections before sale, have not been in the Company’s possession for a long time, the control system software is installed on a physical medium mounted in a given Vehicle and is ‘offline’ ( no connection to the network), which makes any remote intervention by Newag virtually impossible,” we read further in the statement. In total, as many as 11 points were listed to correct the allegations contained in the text. You can read the statement in its entirety at the end of the article below:
