Anyone who regularly uses instant messaging knows how poor the quality of the photos they send is. In most cases, this is the result of aggressive file compression used by these services to save space on servers. Now WhatsApp has decided to put an end to this problem. But only on the phones of some of us.
WhatsApp with a great new feature. The photos will look the way you want
The latest application update brings a fantastic new feature. WhatsApp will allow its users to send photos in their original quality, without any compression. This means that the resolution, sharpness and detail, as well as the colors and all other aspects of the photo will remain in the form in which the photo was originally saved.
As if that wasn’t enough, the same applies to videos, regardless of the resolution and bitrate used. There is only one limit and it is 2 GB for each file. However, when sending a package of photos in the original quality or a video of several seconds in 4K, it will be difficult to exceed this limit.
By default, WhatsApp will still send photos in compressed form to save data. The option to send original photos has been hidden under the plus icon, allowing you to send additional files or documents. After touching it, a list will appear from which you should click “Select Photo or Video”.
Great feature, but most users won’t use it anyway
The new WhatsApp is a great solution for people who value the ability to send photos in their original quality and resolution. Unfortunately, most messenger users will not use it anyway. Meta (the owner of WhatsApp) for some reason added the function only to the application version for iOS smartphones, i.e. for iPhones.
The conglomerate is silent about the possible addition of new applications to phones with the (globally more popular) Android system. Therefore, it is not known whether WhatsApp users who use the messenger on Google devices have to wait a little longer for the new feature, or whether they will never receive a similar new feature. For now, all they can do is… display the original photos sent by iPhone owners.
