A house in the city of Arlington, Virginia, less than 6 miles (10 kilometers) south of the US capital, burst into flames on Monday evening as police attempted to search the property.
The Arlington County Police Department reported on its X Platform account, formerly known as Twitter, that several officers responded to the scene to investigate a suspect who fired a flare gun from inside the home.
The suspect refused to cooperate and allowed the officers to enter and shot several times “into the house”, as the police described in X. Later, around 8 p.m. local time, the house exploded.
