Six people have been murdered in Colombia in two massacres committed in the departments of Antioquia (northwest) and Valle del Cauca, official sources said this Sunday, with one of them attributed to FARC dissidents.

The first incident took place in a hamlet in the municipality of Palmira (Valle del Cauca), reported the mayor of that town, Óscar Escobar, who said on social networks that “this morning two young people and a minor were killed in Calucé, one of the the quietest townships of Palmira.”

The local president added that “the main hypothesis leads to the fact that this massacre would have been committed by FARC dissidents, with whom the national government has a ceasefire agreement in force until January 15.”

At the same time he said that I have “rejected this heinous act of terrorism and I regret the deaths of the three victims.”

The attack happened when these people were chatting in a nightclub. Armed men arrived on the scene and attacked their victims.

On the other hand, Three men were murdered in a rural area of the city of Santa Fe de (Antioquia).

The bodies of the three victims, still unidentified, were found in the hamlet of Laureles. Two of them were found together and showed signs of torture; The third body was found a kilometer from the other two.

Antioquia police operations commander Colonel William Melo told local media that the bodies had bullet holes in addition to signs of torture.

The authorities are investigating which illegal armed group was the author of the massacre in this area of the country where the Clan del Golfo, the largest criminal gang in the country of paramilitary origin, has a strong presence. (JO)
