ZDNet: Millennials and Generation Z are interested in folding smartphones

Representatives of the younger generation were more likely to be interested in foldable smartphones than other users. This was reported by ZDNet.

Media journalists cited data from the Decluttr online service, whose experts assessed the popularity of folding smartphones. Experts named the main consumers of such gadgets – they were representatives of generation Z and young millennials born in the late 90s.

According to analysts, among this age group, interest in foldable devices increased by 15,369 percent over the year. Decluttr’s chief marketing officer, Liam Hawley, said the increased interest in flip phones comes as young people begin to rethink their experiences and are also influenced by feelings of nostalgia. Hawley pointed out that many millennials remember their childhood when simple phones and foldable gadgets were common on the market.

Interest in folding smartphones is also demonstrated by search query statistics. Thus, over the past 12 months, the number of Google searches for “Motorola Razr flip phone” has grown by 241 percent, and “Oppo flip phone” – by 511 percent.

At the end of October, Digitimes sources said that Apple had planned to release the first foldable iPad. The device should be presented at the end of 2024 or beginning of 2025.
